Our Blessing Named Jesse

Jesse Quintin was born September 26, 2007, the much-loved fifth son of Kristan and Chad. He was diagnosed shortly after birth with AV Canal Heart Defect and Down Syndrome. Thursday, January 10th, Jesse had surgery to repair his heart defect. Friday morning he suddenly went into cardiac arrest. After 45 min. of CPR he was attached to life support. By God's healing hand his heart started to beat again and he came off life support on January 13. We created this blog to keep everyone updated.

Saturday, January 19 - Bottle Feeding Again

After taking the breathing tube out I have been able to resume bottle feeding (with Portagen formula). Jesse is much happier since his tummy if once again full. He went yesterday from 6am-midnight with nothing to eat, and got pretty mad last night before they allowed a bottle. He slept well last night, but I didn't. My neck/shoulder has hurt since Thursday morning and I can barely turn my head. It seems a slight bit better today.

Thanks to everyone for all of your support and help here and at the farm!

Love,
Kristan

  1. Thanks for all the pictures and VERY GOOD NEWS! I was very concerned last night when Jesse was crying and upset. It was great to hear such really good news this morning. Hopefully when Jesse starts sleeping normally again, you will too. Let me know when you want us to come visit again. Dad goes to see the back doctor on Jan. 30 and we are hoping he will say Dad doesn't need to wear the brace anymore. Yesterday I went in the very warm therapy pool with Dad for the first time. (Dad without the brace!) It was great and encourages us to think maybe he won't need it much longer.
