Our Blessing Named Jesse

Jesse Quintin was born September 26, 2007, the much-loved fifth son of Kristan and Chad. He was diagnosed shortly after birth with AV Canal Heart Defect and Down Syndrome. Thursday, January 10th, Jesse had surgery to repair his heart defect. Friday morning he suddenly went into cardiac arrest. After 45 min. of CPR he was attached to life support. By God's healing hand his heart started to beat again and he came off life support on January 13. We created this blog to keep everyone updated.

Tuesday January 29th - 2:40 CST

Just a quick update for you blog-junkies :)

Jesse successfully had the PICC line inserted and is stable. Praise God once again!

We don't know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future. He is the Great "I am."

Please continue to pray for Jesse. Pray for the chylothorax to heal miraculously quickly and for God to be glorified in Jesse's life. The doctors are at this point expecting him to be on TPN for at least 7-10 days, so Jesse will be in the hospital at least that long.

Pray also for Kristan who is growing weary. Please lift her up and pray for her encouragement, for the joy of the Lord to be her strength.

Truly,
Aunt Kim

  1. Dear Chad and Kristan,

Greetings from Sterling! I tried sending you a comment this morn and it was somehow lost. You are in our thoughts and prayers and I wanted to send you one of my favorite verses when God is leading on a path I would never choose to take. It is Deuteronomy 31:8:

"It is the Lord who goes before you; He will be with you, He will not fail you or forsake you; do not fear or be dismayed."

May God give you His grace and peace and may He strengthen, help, and uphold you! We are praying He will heal Jesse and that you can return home soon.

    Much love,
    Becky

  2. Dearest weary parents,

Psalm 73:26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Psalm 33:20-22 Our soul waiteth for the Lord:He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His Holy Name. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Psalm 4 Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness:thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer. O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah But know that the Lord hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the Lord will hear when I call unto Him. Stand in awe, and sin not:commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord. There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.

Isaiah 40:29-31 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

    Our prayers for you.
    Love, The Dirks Family

  4. Blog Junkie I am :o)

It was so awesome to see Kristan, Jesse and the crew yesterday. I am so blessed to have Kristan as one of my dear friends. She has been such a blessing in my life and my faith.

My time at the hospital was amazing. I am truly amazed at the work of God. To see him working in Jesse's life puts me in awe. Although nobody can completely understand why this is all happening we know that He is in control and that we need to trust in Him. Think of the life of Job, he too went through pain and suffering and through it all was faithful.

    Psalm 62:1-2
1 My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. 2 He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.

Kristan thanks for the visit yesterday. It was so nice to spend time with you and to just visit. You are doing great! You are an incredible mom! I look forward to your calls and hope to see you guys again soon. Love always ♥♥♥♥ Amee

  5. Kristan and Chad,

I know that God is holding your family in His hands and I pray each day for His strength to be given to Jesse in his recovery. If there is anything I may be able to do, please know I am not far away. I let your Mom know that too.

    Love,
    Nancy

  6. 2 Cor. 12:9-10 "And he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power my rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong." We are praying that you will know God's strength during this trying and difficult times you are going through. We are thinking of you and praying for you. Our prayers are that God will heal this little precious body of Jesse's that the recovery time for him will not be as drawn out. We are praying that your health will hold up and that you will receive the much needed rest that you are needing. May you know God's presence with you during this time. We love and miss you. Our prayer is that you will soon you will be back together as a family again. Love and Prayers, Dan, Beth and Family
