Jesse continues to be stable. The machine he's on is actually called an "ECMO." It is keeping the blood running through his body, so that his heart can rest from all he's been through.
The doctors primary concern is some kind of damage to Jesse's brain while his heart wasn't beating. They would like to do a CT scan, but can't because he's still hooked up to the ECMO. So, instead they have done an ultrasound to check for bleeding (which came back showing no bleeding - praise GOD), and they are going to do an EEG to look for brain impulses. Please pray this comes back positively.
Jesse's heart had been beating regulary on its own (even though it's not really pumping the blood), but it is no longer beating. This is concerning, but not unusual. We pray that God is allowing Jesse's heart to rest and heal at this time while the ECMO is working, so that it'll be able to work at its best when it needs to. A nurse we talked to said that she'd like to see his heart beating again on his own in 12-16 hours.
They have also taken Jesse off the medications that were encouraging his heart to beat so that his heart could rest and recover.
We appreciate all of your prayers and comments. We pray that God will be glorified as He shows Himself able to do more than we can even ask or imagine.
Our Blessing Named Jesse
Jesse Quintin was born September 26, 2007, the much-loved fifth son of Kristan and Chad. He was diagnosed shortly after birth with AV Canal Heart Defect and Down Syndrome. Thursday, January 10th, Jesse had surgery to repair his heart defect. Friday morning he suddenly went into cardiac arrest. After 45 min. of CPR he was attached to life support. By God's healing hand his heart started to beat again and he came off life support on January 13. We created this blog to keep everyone updated.

Chad and Kristen, Romans 8:28 says "and we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them".If we could only see what God sees it would be so much easier.Hold to the promise that one you will see. Love you guys, Jim and Judy
ReplyDeleteThe name of your blog is what I have prayed ever since Jesse was born. God has just really placed all of you on my heart. I physically and spiritually cryed with you today as the complications turned things around. I will not give up hope. Our God is a God of miracles. The fact the Kristan slept last night is an answered prayer. May you feel the comfort of Jesus at all times. Love, Earline
