Our Blessing Named Jesse

Jesse Quintin was born September 26, 2007, the much-loved fifth son of Kristan and Chad. He was diagnosed shortly after birth with AV Canal Heart Defect and Down Syndrome. Thursday, January 10th, Jesse had surgery to repair his heart defect. Friday morning he suddenly went into cardiac arrest. After 45 min. of CPR he was attached to life support. By God's healing hand his heart started to beat again and he came off life support on January 13. We created this blog to keep everyone updated.

Immediate prayer needed for Jesse

We need immediate prayer for baby Jesse.

His chest tube accidentally came out today. The doctors were hoping to remove it tomorrow if his chest drainage had stopped. He was taken off the hormone Octreotide earlier today (which dries up the chest drainage) and they wanted to watch to see if the drainage had stopped on its own.

Now they aren’t able to watch the drainage, so we need to PRAY, PRAY, PRAY that there is no fluid accumulation in Jesse’s chest cavity, particularly to any immediately dangerous level that would require an emergency operation to drain. Fluid buildup in Jesse’s chest could press on his lungs making it difficult for him to breathe & would require immediate attention.

Jesse is scheduled to have a chest x-ray around 7-8 am (Mountain Time – which is like 8-9 am Central Time) tomorrow (Sunday, January 27th). Please pray that the x-ray will clearly reveal whether there is fluid accumulating or not and for the doctors to have great wisdom in what course of treatment to take.

Jesse is not allowed to eat past 3am in case he will need surgery in the morning, so pray that God will keep his tummy full and that he will not be cranky from not being able to eat.

If Jesse does need to have a chest tube re-inserted, it will require a general anesthesia. Jesse’s body does not react well to anesthesia and we really need to pray that God will protect him from pain and keep his heart and lungs functioning steadily during the anesthesia.

If Jesse needs a new chest tube, they are planning to do it around 9-10am. Pray that it would be then & not later in the day, so that Jesse doesn’t have to go without eating for any longer than necessary.

Last Sunday, our churches were praying for little Jesse as he was taking off the ECMO machine and I pray that this Sunday our churches will be praying for little Jesse again.

God has worked many, many miracles in Jesse’s life already. Earlier today Jesse was taken off the high-flow oxygen & is now on a regular flow one & is doing well. Praise GOD!
To God be the glory, Great things HE has done! We pray that He will be glorified in yet another miraculous recovery for Jesse,

Aunt Kim

  2. We continue in prayer, and in trust that our Father knows what He is about, confident that He will bring about all that is best for His own, though we may not be able to understand His ways. We trustingly leave Jesse in His gracious, capable, almighty, loving, righteous hands. Our hearts are with you.
