Praise God, Jesse has made it through another procedure! His chest is closed and his heart is beating on its own. He is still on a ventilator and requiring quite a lot of medications and so on, but he's doing good.
Once again, Kristan and Chad will be on later (hopefully) to tell you some of the details of amazing things that have transpired in the last 24 hours. But, we wanted to tell all of the prayer warriors - THANK YOU!
Jesse is very sensitive to anesthethics, and at the same time very resistant to pain medicines. This makes it challenging to manage his pain and his sedation.
Please continue to cover Jesse in prayer - that God will protect him from pain and that he will rest easily as he recovers from another major procedure. Also, pray that he will be protected from any bleeding or infection.
We had a wonderful time of prayer and singing this morning with our own family, as well as 2 other Christian, home-schooling, heart-patient families here at the hospital that God has connected us with. It reminded me of in Acts 11, Paul and Silas are in jail and they were "praying and signing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them, and suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken." We pray that this time of praising God, despite the scary circumstances, will bring God glory.
We've met many other families here. Please pray for little Annasophia - 14 days old - who also had her chest closed today following heart surgery on Saturday. Pray also for Jonathan - 3 1/2 years old following 4 heart surgeries for Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). We're also praying for Jordan, Jayden, Ayla and Elizabeth who are fellow CICU patients.
More to follow,
Kim
Our Blessing Named Jesse
Jesse Quintin was born September 26, 2007, the much-loved fifth son of Kristan and Chad. He was diagnosed shortly after birth with AV Canal Heart Defect and Down Syndrome. Thursday, January 10th, Jesse had surgery to repair his heart defect. Friday morning he suddenly went into cardiac arrest. After 45 min. of CPR he was attached to life support. By God's healing hand his heart started to beat again and he came off life support on January 13. We created this blog to keep everyone updated.
