Our Blessing Named Jesse

Jesse Quintin was born September 26, 2007, the much-loved fifth son of Kristan and Chad. He was diagnosed shortly after birth with AV Canal Heart Defect and Down Syndrome. Thursday, January 10th, Jesse had surgery to repair his heart defect. Friday morning he suddenly went into cardiac arrest. After 45 min. of CPR he was attached to life support. By God's healing hand his heart started to beat again and he came off life support on January 13. We created this blog to keep everyone updated.

Sunday - Updated 9pm CST

I'm sorry we haven't gotten this on here sooner ...

Firstly, the chest x-ray came back this morning that there was little increase in fluid accumulation in Jesse's chest. He continues to breathe well on his own - praise GOD! So, he did not have a chest tube put in.

Jesse will go through the same regimen tonight - no formula after 3 or 4 a.m. in preparation for if he does need a general anesthesia to put in a chest tube tomorrow.

So, we need to continue praying tonight & tomorrow morning for the same things as yesterday -- no fluid accumulation, no crankiness from lack of food, good breathing during the night. Also, pray that for the chest x-ray that will be done in the morning & for if Jesse needs a chest tube tomorrow. If he does need a chest tube, pray especially for protection during anesthesia.

Thank you all for your prayers!

**************

I talked to Kristan about an hour ago & they hadn't done the chest x-ray yet.

Jesse is still breathing fine - praise GOD!

He was allowed clear fluids until 7am, so Kristan gave him clear Pedialyte at 6:30 am. He drank 4 oz of it, which is amazing in that most babies refuse it because it tastes so bad.

So, keep praying.

  1. Thanks, Kim, for helping to keep us informed! When I talked to Kristan later she said they will repeat the X-ray tomorrow morning. Pray for no fluid build-up, and no more surgeries. Also pray that Jesse's pulmonary hypertension improves so he can clear his lungs and breath easier.

Thank you, God, for another miracle.

  2. From Psalm 111

"Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.
...the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
The works of His hands are faithful and just; all His precepts are trustworthy.
.....holy and awesome is His name.
    To Him belongs eternal praise."

Our thoughts and prayers are with you knowing the days and nights are LONG and all blur into one another. May the God of grace "stablish, strengthen and settle" you. (1 Peter 5:10)

  3. Our church and, of course, we 3 here in Salida are praying for Jesse today, as usual. We pray that he is improving and is able to eat a little something later today. God keeps working miracles in his life and gives us all hope that he will recover and go home before too long. Our prayers are also for you, Kristan and Chad, for endurance and continued strength and that you can get some rest so that you can continue your vigil with Jesse. What a testimony you are to God's faithfulness through you. God bless you all,
    Marsha, Mike and John
