Our Blessing Named Jesse

Jesse Quintin was born September 26, 2007, the much-loved fifth son of Kristan and Chad. He was diagnosed shortly after birth with AV Canal Heart Defect and Down Syndrome. Thursday, January 10th, Jesse had surgery to repair his heart defect. Friday morning he suddenly went into cardiac arrest. After 45 min. of CPR he was attached to life support. By God's healing hand his heart started to beat again and he came off life support on January 13. We created this blog to keep everyone updated.

Tuesday, January 22 - THE BIG MOVE!!!

The big news of the day is that this afternoon Jesse moved out of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, up to the CPCU (Cardiac Pediatric Care Unit???) on the 9th floor. This is one more step toward coming home, but I have no idea how far off that day is. He still has a chest tube in draining fluid, and a Central Venous Line, but hopefully both of those will be taken out tomorrow. He is off the nitric oxide, but still on high-flow oxygen that has to be weaned down a lot before he can come home. They did come do an ECHO of his heart, but of course I was at lunch so I will have to ask the doctors tomorrow morning what the ECHO showed.
I praise God for all he has done in our lives. Sometimes I do not understand why Jesse must go through all that he has, but I continue look to God for direction in making decisions, and to hope and trust in God.
Love,
Kristan
Psalm 43
Send Out Your Light and Your Truth
Vindicate me, O God, and defend
my cause against an ungodly people,
from the deceitful and unjust man deliver me!
For you are the God in whom I take refuge;
why have you rejected me?
Why do I go about mourning
because of the oppression of the enemy?
Send out your light and your truth;
let them lead me;let them bring me to your holy hill
and to your dwelling!
Then I will go to the altar of God,
to God my exceeding joy,
and I will praise you with the lyre,
O God, my God.
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.

  3. Chad and Kristan - we are Herb & Sandy Sanford, friends of the Bromptons. We want you to know that we have been praying for Jesse and you both. The Jefferson Community Church has also been praying. We praise the Lord for His "Jesse miracles" and for His sustaining grace for you through these many difficult days. We continue to pray for Jesse - that sweet little boy - that each day will bring continued strength and healing for him! Also, that the Lord will give special wisdom to the doctors as they make medical decisions. May our gracious Lord fill your hearts with His love, comfort, and peace each day and also give physical strength for continued endurance through Jesse's recovery.
