Our Blessing Named Jesse

Jesse Quintin was born September 26, 2007, the much-loved fifth son of Kristan and Chad. He was diagnosed shortly after birth with AV Canal Heart Defect and Down Syndrome. Thursday, January 10th, Jesse had surgery to repair his heart defect. Friday morning he suddenly went into cardiac arrest. After 45 min. of CPR he was attached to life support. By God's healing hand his heart started to beat again and he came off life support on January 13. We created this blog to keep everyone updated.

God Sightings by Kim

I can see God's handprints here as we sit and pray and seek God's face and I'd like to share them with you.

When Jesse's heart stopped beating, it was while the doctors were doing rounds and he was able to get immediate attention, rather than waiting for a doctor to arrive.

Kristan & Chad had visited a church in Greeley a year ago. While there they met a wonderful family whose son had already had 2 heart surgeries and was scheduled for a third. Kristan remembers commenting on how hard that would be. Yesterday, on the day of Jesse's surgery, their son (Jonathan) was flown here to Children's Hospital. Kristan and Jonathan's mom (Kimberly) recognized one another and Kimberly prayed with us yesterday. This morning Kristan asked me to go tell her what was going on. Kimberly once again prayed with me. We are thankful for God providing her here as encouragement, that we would mutually encourage one another & lift each other up in prayer, and also that they would be able to encourage each other after Jesse & Jonathan (God willing!) go home from the hospital.

God is an "on-time" God. He is never late. We praise Him for being a God of perfect timing. He knows our every need before we've even spoken them.

I'm thankful that God impressed upon Kristan for Chad to sleep at the hospital last night, so he was able to be with Jesse so quickly.

We are thankful for the many people who are praying for us. Know that it is an encouragement to us, and that God is glorified in your prayers.

Truly,
Kim (Kristan's sister)

  1. Prayers are so powerful and you have so many people across this nation praying for Jesse and for your family. Our prayers are with you as you go through this difficult time.

    The bible states:
Then you will call upon Me and come and proy to Me, and I will listen to you. Jeremiah 29:12

The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. Psalm 145:18

May the Lord bless you and keep you, may He wrap His arms around you and give you His peace.

  2. From the depths of our hearts, our prayers and thoughts go out to you. It is truly awesome to see people all over our community and across the states lifting up praise and petition to God for you and for Jesse. God hears each of those prayers and knows your heart.

Psalm 86 is a prayer of David as He puts full trust in God during difficult times and I'll share a couple of those verses:

"Give ear O Lord to my prayer; And attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, for You will answer me." vs. 6 & 7

"But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth." vs. 15

God desires to lavish you with His mercy and grace. May you feel His presence as He walks beside you each step of this journey.

Rylie would like to share Psalm 27:14 - "Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart."

Thank you Kim for sharing the God sightings as well as all of the updates on Jesse. We love reading them and appreciate being able to stay up to date.

    All our love and prayers,
    Mat & Wendy

  3. Dear Kim,
Thanks so much for setting up the blog for Jesse. It is so nice to be able to get fresh updates, but also good to be able to read over the technical parts more than once so I can better understand what Jesse's condition is. It's also great to be able to share with others so they can get the news straight, not passed from word of mouth where it's hard to keep all the details correct.
It's such a blessing you are able to be with Kristan and Chad, and I praise the Lord every day for your love and support for them.
We love you (PS Emily's post is precious)
    love, Twila
